Cancellation Policy

Travel Insurance

Harbour Rock highly recommends that guests obtain travel insurance from reputable agents, airlines, etc. Your vacation represents a substantial investment and an unforeseen event can not only spoil your holiday but cause substantial financial loss.

Personal Reasons

Personal reasons for cancellation are generally limited to major unforeseen illness or death in the immediate family. Financial hardship is not a valid reason for cancellation once the booking becomes firm. Harbour Rock will assist you in making a travel insurance claim and will consider refunds or rebooking if we, in our discretion, determine that your claim has been unreasonably denied.

Weather

Weather is a fact of life everywhere in the world. The Caribbean is fortunate in that Turks and Caicos has more “sunshine days” than most everywhere in the U.S. and Canada. Rain showers are usually brief and weather systems move through rapidly. We are however subject to very rare but intense weather during the so-called “hurricane season” of August to November. Severe impacts are highly localized and the chances of our island being hit on a given date in a given year are low. Our only experience was Hurricane Irma in 2017. Damage to the villa was minor and for purposes of tourism, the island recovered quickly.

We do not cancel for occasional Tropical Depressions or Tropical Storms with maximum winds less than hurricane strength.  If airline flights are delayed or cancelled on your travel day, we will work to accommodate an extension, or in our discretion, a partial refund. Systems usually pass through quickly with no more inconvenience than a rainy day at home or a U.S. beach.

We may cancel for forecast of likely or actual landfall of a hurricane. We will also cancel in the event of announced evacuation or suspension of airline services. For a hurricane cancellation, we will work with you to try and book new dates. If we are unsuccessful, a full refund of any rental you have paid will be our sole obligation. We are not responsible for any airline cancellation fees or forfeiture.

In the highly unlikely event the villa suffers damage requiring substantial repairs after a storm event, we will try to book new dates, but if unsuccessful, our sole obligation will be to refund any rental you have paid us.

In summary, cancellation should not be a major worry but simply a minor risk and tradeoff for the usually beautiful Caribbean sunshine and the enjoyment of a vacation at Harbour Rock.
